Wicked Game
Irene Joseph
I remember the sun rise on your face, the moon and stars in your eyes. You became my light in a dark and empty world. Your heart close to mine, keeping me alive with the flow of your electricity. Our first kiss breaking stormy clouds, controlling my body, mind and soul. Sweetness. You opened the door to a new world.
It was the first and last time I would ever love again.
I awoke seeing the note:
“I'll always love you.”
Ripped scrap paper, left on your pillow.
I never saw those eyes again. My tears fell and still fall. Morning, noon and night.
I'll tell you something you don't want to hear. I need to say this without breaking.
All this time, inside of you, you were hard. I loved and loved but I lost you. I fought for you, walking miles...a walk of shame. Truth is a beautiful thing. But you lied.
Tell me, if you were in my position would you cope with this lifelong pain? No. You'd be on your knees, struggling.
You left me for her, loving her all this time when you were meant to be loving me.
You told me I loved you too much.
Your heart is my key, but I can't turn it anymore. I can't escape. You are still inside and I cannot move. That's truth, no lie.
I was just a player in your game of life.
I lost. You left.
What a wicked game you played.
